TOMONI is a comprehensive digital solution that aims to make power plants as safe, optimized and efficient as possible while maximizing the profitability of clients' operations and preparing plants for the transition to a decarbonized economy. Here, we look at T-Point 2(*), an essential element in developing the applications for Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) plants that gives TOMONI its competitive edge, and in achieving autonomous power plant, the goal of TOMONI.

Mitsubishi Power offers superior quality and reliability, both of which are the result of testing performed at the T-Point GTCC verification facility, which operated between 1997 and 2019, and subsequently at T-Point 2, a state-of-the-art power plant that went online in 2020, and an approach of only releasing products on the market once performance has been sufficiently achieved.
Mitsubishi Power is the only one manufacturer in the industry that tests and develops product and solutions at its own grid-connected long-time verification GTCC power plants. TOMONI is no exception—its applications are tested at the T-Point 2. Mitsubishi Power will continue to develop and deploy various applications by combining knowledge and expertise gained while delivering a large number of GTCC power plants with digital solutions.

LEVELS OF AUTONOMY AND ROADMAP FOR TOMONI AUTONOMOUS POWER PLANT

TOMONI applications are categorized into varying levels of autonomy inspired by the levels of vehicle autonomy.

Level 1

System supports human operation and maintenance by specified operation.

  • Development of applications relating to visualization of the operating data, as initial stage of the development.

Level 2

Partial optimization by using AI, etc.

  • Development of applications relating to optimization of performance and maintenance, leveraging Mitsubishi Power's expertise supported by our extensive technology, design and manufacturing knowledge.

Level 3

Optimize entirely through applications connection using AI, etc.

  • Development of applications aiming to achieve autonomous power plant in which the system is linked to multiple applications using AI.
APP is Classified into 3 levels, Depending on How Much Support is Provided by TOMONI.

Mitsubishi Power currently develops and offers individual solutions (or "applications").
When the TOMONI program reaches Level 3, AI will enable power plants to make their own decisions through self-learning. Then, once applications are connected, it will become possible to optimize the overall system. It is TOMONI's mission to achieve autonomous power plants, which aim to maximize value for clients by autonomous and optimized operation and maintenance, a reality.
